October 21, 2008
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) has approved a $225,000 grant to Northeast Mississippi Health Care, Inc. for the construction of a new dental facility.
Northeast Mississippi Health Care, Inc. plans to construct and equip a 3,000 square foot dental facility as part of its effort to make dental care more readily available. The project will increase space in the office’s dental area and provide for state of the art equipment. Additionally, it will allow for one new full-time dentist and one part-time dental assistant.
“The current wait time for a dentist at the Northeast Mississippi Health Care clinic is six months,” Sen. Wicker said. “This funding will help reduce that time while also helping provide better dental services for the uninsured and underinsured population in Desoto, Marshall, and Tate counties.”
In addition to the DRA grant, $406,250 has been secured through a grant and loan from the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Rural Development office, bringing the total project funding to $631,250.
