WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced that Mt. Olive has been selected to receive an $8,670 grant to help purchase a new police car through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program.
“The Mt. Olive Police Department provides an invaluable service to the citizens of their community,” Senator Wicker said. “This grant will allow them to provide additional security to their citizens.”
The USDA Rural Development Program aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in rural America. This is done by providing financial and technical assistance to foster growth and new opportunities for business development, home ownership, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
