August 26, 2008
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced that Woodville has been selected to receive a $17,875 grant to help purchase a new police car through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program. The Woodville Police Department currently has five patrol cars, two of which are older models with high mileage. The new patrol car will give the police department the means of providing additional security for the citizens of Woodville.
“Law enforcement officers in Woodville provide an invaluable service to the citizens of their community,” Senator Wicker said. “This grant will help fund a new patrol car in order to allow the Woodville Police Department to better serve the community.”
The USDA Rural Development Program aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in rural America. This is done by providing financial and technical assistance to foster growth and new opportunities for business development, home ownership, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
