WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran today announced that Pickens has been selected to receive an $18,579 grant to help purchase a new police car through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program. The new patrol vehicle will supplement the police department’s existing vehicle.
“The Pickens Police Department provides an invaluable service to the citizens of their community,” Senator Wicker said. “This grant will increase the department’s fleet and allow them to provide additional security to their community.”
The USDA Rural Development Program aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in rural America. This is done by providing financial and technical assistance to foster growth and new opportunities for business development, home ownership, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
