Wicker Applauds West Point Company’s Milestone
Navistar Defense Delivers 5,000th Mine Resistant Vehicle to U.S. Military
September 10, 2008
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today applauded the announcement that the Navistar Defense facility in West Point has delivered its 5,000th mine resistant vehicle to the U.S. military.
“This is an important day for Mississippi’s economy and an even more important day for our nation’s military,” Sen. Wicker said. “Every day in West Point, Mississippians go to work and assemble vehicles that help save the lives of American troops in Iraq. That is an amazing responsibility, and one that speaks volumes about the Navistar employees in West Point. From vehicle design to delivery, no one can match the quality and quantity of this facility. Of all the important products Mississippi workers produce, none is more important than these life-saving vehicles.”
The Navistar Defense facility in West Point produces Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, which are armored vehicles designed to protect soldiers during ambushes and roadside bomb attacks.
