Sen. Wicker Announces “Back Roads” Tour

Tour Will Focus on Smaller Communities in Mississippi

April 3, 2009

WASHINGTON – Following the Senate adjourning late last night for the two-week Easter work period, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today announced he will spend much of the next two weeks on his traditional “back roads” tour of Mississippi.  Beginning Monday, April 6, Wicker said he wants to talk with Mississippians in parts of the state that might be considered off the beaten path.

“When the Senate is not voting or holding hearings in Washington, I spend as much time as possible in Mississippi,” Sen. Wicker said.  “It has always been important to me to hear from residents in all parts of the state, not just the larger cities.  This ‘back roads’ tour will again allow me to hear the concerns of folks at country stores, neighborhood restaurants, and trucks stops in small towns across Mississippi.”

Sen. Wicker’s “back roads” tour has been an annual tradition, beginning when he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

All events are open to the press.  Schedule is subject to change.
