WASHINGTON – Senator Thad Cochran announced today that the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released over $13 million in Federal grants for the state of Mississippi associated with Hurricane Katrina.  
 
“I am pleased FEMA has decided to provide further funding for Mississippi’s recovering coastal communities,” Sen. Cochran said.  “We must continue to take every possible step to ensure that the Federal Government does its part to assist in rebuilding damaged areas still feeling the devastation of Hurricane Katrina .”    

Senator Wicker added, “Although these grants should have been processedmuch earlier, these funds will be critical as we continue to rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.” 
 
Funds have been awarded to the following areas: 

• City of D’Iberville – $1,167,419.40 for restoration of public utilities. 
• Bay St. Louis School District – $3,536,330.82 for relocation of North Bay Elementary.
• City of Pass Christian – $2,223,488.81 for repairing and replacing roads and bridges.
• City of Pass Christian – $2,251,057.67 for restoration of damaged infrastructure.
• City of Long Beach – $1,987,341.75 for repairing and replacing roads and bridges.
• City of Pass Christian – $2,298,999.67 for repairing and restoring roadways, curbs, gutters, drainage, and infrastructure.
