Wicker's Statement on 37th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

January 21, 2010

WASHINGTON – On the eve of the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., reaffirmed his belief that human life is precious and should be protected from the moment of conception. Wicker also welcomed March for Life participants to Washington, D.C., and thanked them for their efforts.

“In the 37 years since Roe v. Wade, members of the pro-life movement have tirelessly defended the right to life. Their fight to protect the unborn has never been more important, and we are seeing the strength of the pro-life movement in the tens of thousands who have made their way to Washington to participate in March for Life activities."

“Once again, I join them in calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and uphold the promise of life and liberty for all Americans, including the unborn. Until then, we must keep up the fight. In the Senate, I will continue advocating legislation that honors and protects human life.”

During his tenure in Congress, Wicker has offered and supported many pieces of pro-life legislation. Wicker has consistently earned a 100% rating from the National Right to Life.
