Wicker: Improvements to Vehicle Safety Bill Are Step in Right Direction, But Focus Must Remain on Safety, Not Unnecessary Regulations
June 9, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee today approved legislation, S. 3302 – the Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 2010, to improve vehicle safety standards that included improvements made by Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) Senator Wicker noted the importance of remaining focused on the safety aspect of the legislation, instead of unnecessary regulations.
“The improvements made on this vehicle safety legislation are a step in the right direction,” said Senator Wicker. “However, I still have some concerns as the legislation moves forward. We must work to ensure that the focus of the bill is motor vehicle safety, not an unnecessary growth of government regulations with little benefit to those on our nation’s roads.”
