Wicker Says Leadership Needed Now to Reduce Federal Spending
Avoiding tough problems and maintaining the status quo are not viable options
May 13, 2011
Washington, DC – Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) made the following statement after he and most Republican Senators met with President Obama at the White House to discuss the federal debt.
“My Republican colleagues and I conveyed the seriousness and urgency of addressing our current debt crisis to President Obama. Reducing the $14 trillion dollar debt is going to take bold leadership to avoid financial catastrophe. Now is the time to provide the leadership needed to reduce federal spending and put us on a path toward fiscal responsibility,” said Wicker.
Continuing on this current path is unsustainable and threatens our future prosperity.
