Wicker Casts In-Person Absentee Vote Ahead of Election Day
October 30, 2014
TUPELO – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today made the following statement after voting in-person absentee in Tupelo.
“The option to vote absentee gives Mississippians more opportunities to ensure that their voices are heard in this important election,” Wicker said. “Since I will be out of town on Election Day, I have voted in-person absentee at my local Circuit Clerk’s office. I encourage Mississippians to exercise their right to decide the future of our local, state, and federal governments by participating in this year’s election – either by voting on November 4 or via absentee ballot.”
Registered voters over the age of 65, those who must work during poll hours, and those who will be out of the county on Election Day, such as college students, are all eligible to cast an absentee ballot in person. More information about eligibility requirements and absentee voting can be found at www.sos.ms.gov.
Noon on Saturday, November 1 is the deadline to vote in-person absentee at Circuit Clerks’ offices across the state. Mailed absentee ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on November 3. For military and overseas voters, the deadline for absentee ballots is 7 p.m. on November 4. The general election is November 4.
