WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today highlighted the importance of returning the Senate to regular order during the first Senate Republican leadership press conference of the 114th Congress.

“What does regular order mean to the average American? It means that Americans will now see their elected senators voting on the key issues. They will no longer have a Senator being shielded from tough votes on the floor of the United States Senate. They’ll be able to see where we stand on the key issues of the day.”

Wicker also spoke on the need to pass bipartisan legislation, such as approving the Keystone XL pipeline, restoring the 40-hour workweek, and repealing the medical device tax:

“We now have an opportunity to give Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate the opportunity to work together on these important issues and to send them to the President’s desk. We’ll see if the President is going to listen to the American people and be disposed to signing the bipartisan legislation that we place on his desk.”
