Wicker: Afghan President’s Address to Congress Underscores Success
March 25, 2015
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement regarding Afghan President Dr. Ashraf Ghani’s address to a joint session of Congress:
“These are historic times in Afghanistan. President Ghani has overseen his nation’s first peaceful and democratic transition of power. His moving address to Congress today reinforces my view that another major milestone has been achieved in the liberation of the Afghan people. These achievements would not have been possible without the service members and veterans who have served in Operation Enduring Freedom. Today, we pay tribute to the tens of thousands of Americans who responded to the call of duty and the 2,215 brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
