WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today voted in favor of the “Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2015.” The bill, S. 2232, is authored by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. The proposal would expand on existing oversight measures regarding the nation’s central bank.

“This proposal aims to shed even more light on the strategies being implemented by the Federal Reserve,” Wicker said. “Enacting additional transparency measures could help bolster consumer confidence in the nation’s monetary policies. The House of Representatives passed this legislation late last year with bipartisan support. It is disappointing that the Senate did not follow suit.”

The measure was passed by the House in November 2015 by a vote of 241-185. In the Senate, it required 60 votes in order to proceed to full consideration. It failed by a vote of 53-44.
