Wicker Meets With Leader of Miss. National Guard
Miss. Senator, M.G. Boyles Discuss Priorities During First Official Washington Visit

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today met with Major Gen. Janson D. (Durr) Boyles, Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard, to discuss current issues impacting Guardsmen.
“Gen. Boyles and I had a productive meeting today during his first official visit to Capitol Hill,” Wicker said. “We discussed the great work being done by our Guardsmen. I am committed to helping ensure that Gen. Boyles and the Guard have the tools they need to excel. Our state’s National Guard has a promising future, and we all have a vested interest in seeing that through.”
MG Boyles was appointed to the position on September 1, 2016. Prior to his time in this position, Boyles served in Afghanistan with the 168th Engineer Brigade of the Mississippi National Guard. During Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts, he was the Executive Officer for the 168th Engineer Group in the Mississippi National Guard. More recently, Boyles served in Kosovo from 2015-2016 as Chief of Staff of KFOR Forces, a NATO division deployed as part of Operation Joint Guardian. Boyles has been serving our country for 34 years, beginning in 1982.
