Wicker Statement on President Obama’s Budget
February 9, 2016
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a member of the Senate Budget Committee, today issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s final budget proposal:
“The President’s final budget has arrived with a resounding thud in Congress. On the crucial issue of addressing the debt crisis, his budget does nothing. On the important issue of restraining growth in mandatory spending, the President’s budget does nothing.
“For the last six years, we have had a divided government. Divided government has historically been a time when a President could reach out to congressional leaders of the other party and make tough decisions, such as reining in the debt for coming generations. Sadly, the President has missed his final opportunity to address one of the real crises we face as Americans: the growing debt.”
