WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today questioned Gen. James Mattis at his confirmation hearing to be President-elect Trump’s Secretary of Defense. Wicker specifically asked the former Marine Corps General about the important strategic relationship between the United States and Israel.
Wicker has announced his full support for Gen. Mattis’s nomination. Following his meeting with Gen. Mattis earlier this week, Wicker said: “Gen. Mattis is an exceptional choice to lead our Defense Department and military service members during these difficult times. His extensive knowledge on strategy and foreign policy will serve our national security interests well. President-elect Trump could not have picked a better person for the job.”
