April 26, 2017
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today issued this statement after he received a classified briefing on North Korea from White House officials:
“Today, President Trump’s top national security team briefed my Senate colleagues and me regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula. The President deserves credit for updating the entire Senate. The Administration’s decision to hold this top-secret briefing at the White House indicates the seriousness of the threat.
“North Korea’s illegal nuclear weapons program represents a clear and growing danger to our regional allies, our troops, and the U.S. homeland. I look forward to hearing more from our top uniformed commander in the region, Admiral Harry Harris, tomorrow at a Senate Armed Services Committee meeting.”
