April 24, 2017

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today voted to confirm former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to be President Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture. The Senate confirmed Perdue’s nomination by a vote of 87-11.

“Sonny Perdue is no stranger to the needs of America’s farmers and ranchers, particularly those in the South,” Wicker said. “He is intimately familiar with the important role that agriculture plays in our economy and providing sustenance to the world. I look forward to working with him in his new role to protect and promote Mississippi’s agricultural interests.”

Wicker is scheduled to attend Secretary Perdue’s swearing in ceremony on Tuesday, April 25.
