WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement following President Donald Trump’s decision to launch missiles in Syria:

“President Trump took decisive action against the Syrian regime. The president’s measured and proportional response demonstrates to Syrian President Bashar Al Assad and his allies that the United States will not tolerate the continued use of chemical weapons and will act decisively to deter further aggression against civilians. This response was conducted in careful coordination with America’s allies, including the United Kingdom and France. I hope that Russia and Iran will stop backing Assad, who has directed unthinkable atrocities against his own people.”
