Wicker Votes for Gina Haspel as CIA Director

May 17, 2018

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today voted in favor of Gina Haspel to be the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Haspel was confirmed with bipartisan support by a vote of 54 to 45.

“Gina Haspel will be the most qualified director the CIA has ever had,” Wicker said. “Her confirmation is also historic because she will be the first woman to lead the agency. She has spent her career at the CIA keeping Americans safe. At a time when our nation faces a myriad of threats around the world, I am confident Gina Haspel is the right person at the right time to lead our global intelligence programs.”
