Wicker Assembles Care Packages for U.S. Military Spouses
USO Event Spotlights Importance of Military Families
September 5, 2018
WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today participated in a United Service Organizations (USO) Military Spouse Care Package Assembly event in the U.S. Capitol complex.
“As a veteran, I understand the importance of supporting military families. I appreciate the work of the USO to spotlight military spouses and their contributions to our nation,” Wicker said.
Wicker spent time packing spouse care packages, which included a water bottle, a journal, a sleep mask, a bath bomb, and other gifts for the spouses of deployed service members.
The event is part of the USO’s “Salute to Military Spouses” project, a six-month initiative to highlight the contributions of military spouses and the challenges they face.
As part of the program, the USO plans to extend its Care Package Program to include a Military Spouse Care Package Program. This fall, the USO will allow deployed service members to send a free USO care package directly to their spouse.
