Wicker Statement on the ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act’ Vote

January 17, 2019

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after voting for his legislation, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.” The bill received a majority vote of 48-47, but failed to attain the 60 votes required to advance:

“Holding a vote on this pro-life bill was an important step as thousands of Americans plan to participate in tomorrow’s annual March for Life. The vote was successful in putting each senator on record on the question of taxpayer funding for abortion. I will continue to pursue this legislation because tax dollars should never be used to fund a practice so many find reprehensible.”
