Wicker Statement on the Resolution of Disapproval

Senate Democrats Waste Floor Time with Political Stunt

September 25, 2019

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after Senate Democrats forced a second vote on a resolution of disapproval for the national emergency declared by the President on February 15, 2019:

“The Senate voted on this exact resolution six months ago, and my vote and the reasoning behind it have not changed. Senate Democrats have wasted valuable floor time that would have been better used to confirm the backlog of the President’s nominees, to fund the government, or to approve new trade deals. The American people are not well served by this political stunt.”

The Senate passed the same resolution on March 14, 2019, which was vetoed by President Trump.
