WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., released the following statement in response to the finalization of the second-largest economic development project in Mississippi history:

“Today’s milestone is the direct result of a team effort. Cutting the bureaucratic red tape was a huge challenge, but knowing it is going to change thousands of lives made the fight worth it,” Senator Wicker said. “I worked with Governor Reeves and TVA to help bring together all stakeholders to deliver this result. This project is an investment in our people and proof our state is worth investing in. I will keep working with all of our state and local partners to keep Mississippi a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The EV battery plant project will be located in Marshall County. PACCAR, Cummins, and Daimler Truck North America are joining with a technology partner to produce commercial vehicle battery cells for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks. The project will accelerate and localize the commercial vehicle battery supply chain in the United States, protect U.S. intellectual property, and strengthen U.S. competitiveness.
