WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., met with President-elect Trump’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

“I am confident that Congresswoman Stefanik will be a terrific Ambassador to the UN. I have known her for years to be a proven leader, talented communicator, and fearless advocate for American interests. Her work in the U.S. House of Representatives also shows that she understands the importance of delivering peace through strength,” Senator Wicker said. “I have absolute confidence in her ability to carry out the United States’ priorities.”

Congresswoman Stefanik most recently served in the U.S. House of Representatives for New York’s 21st District and served as the House Republican Conference Chair for the 118th Congress. At the time of her first election, Congresswoman Stefanik was the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. During her tenure, she has championed policies including national security, intelligence reform and oversight, broadband, education, and others.
