Chairman Wicker Meets with President Trump to Discuss Peace Through Strength
January 30, 2025
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today met with the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, to discuss their shared goal of restoring peace through strength and rebuilding the military.
“It was an honor to visit with President Trump at the White House today. The president has a mandate for reform and a vision for American prosperity. This is the moment for the president and Congress to enact the 'peace through strength’ policies that America needs,” Chairman Wicker said. “Alongside Secretary of Defense Hegseth, I will keep my commitment to build the Iron Dome for America, construct a next-generation naval fleet to command the seas, restore our nation’s arsenal of munitions, and empower our country’s best entrepreneurs to dominate the technology race with China. That starts with a strong reconciliation process. Since we also cannot have national security without border security, I strongly support the president’s mission to defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity against the cartels and other foreign elements. We are already at work so that we can realize a Golden Age for America.”
Chairman Wicker and President Trump discussed:
- Supercharging the ‘peace through strength’ agenda through defense investment in upcoming budget reconciliation legislation.
- Revitalizing our Navy and merchant fleet.
- Fielding a national missile defense system and new space-based capabilities.
- Rebuilding our defense industrial base and deterring China.
- Increasing innovation and technology dominance in American national defense.
- Ensuring air and ground dominance for the next generation.
- Passing a funding bill for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2025 and a budget resolution for the next fiscal year.
