Senator Wicker’s Bill to Reform Credentialing Process Signed Into Law

January 7, 2025

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act, sponsored by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., was signed into law by the president.

Current Transportation Security Administration (TSA) policies often mandate three separate applications: the Transportation Worker Identification Credential, Hazardous Materials Endorsements, and a TSA Security Threat Assessment.

To avoid duplicative paperwork and fees, Senator Wicker’s legislation would streamline this process and cut through the red tape.

“Our truckers, supply chains, and American commerce are better off because of this bill. I am glad to see it become law,” Senator Wicker said. “I thank my friends in the House and Senate, as well as the American Trucking Association, for their help getting this past the finish line.”
