Wicker Celebrates the Fourth of July
July 1, 2021
JACKSON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker released a video in advance of the Fourth of July holiday weekend. See below for a full transcript of his remarks.
Remarks as delivered:
Today marks the birth of history’s greatest experiment in freedom and self-government.
On July 4, 1776, our Founding Fathers declared independence from the British and set in motion the events that ushered in what they called “a new order for the age.”
As we gather to celebrate, we should remember that victory and freedom came only with great sacrifice.
No matter our politics, we are all heirs of an extraordinary legacy. We have a responsibility to see that that legacy continues to grow and thrive.
From my family to yours, happy Independence Day!
