Wicker Stands With Trump on Deal to Fund Gov’t, Hurricane Relief
September 7, 2017
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today voted in favor of legislation supported by President Trump to fund the federal government until December. The measure will also prevent a default on U.S. debt and provide relief for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
“Getting this bill through Congress and signed into law is a top priority for President Trump and for me,” Wicker said. “Our fellow Americans in Texas are in need of our help and this measure will ensure that essential federal resources will continue to be directed their way. We should also be mindful that, with Hurricane Irma bearing down on Puerto Rico and Florida, keeping the government funded is critical as we all prepare for another potentially devastating storm to make landfall.”
The legislation also extends the National Flood Insurance Program, which covers thousands of homeowners in Mississippi, until December 8. The extension gives Congress additional time to work with the Trump Administration on a long-term reauthorization.
