Senate Page Program
I am fortunate to have the opportunity to sponsor pages who serve in the United States Senate. This is an excellent opportunity for a select few civic-minded young men and women to learn about the legislative process and assist Senators and their staffs.
Students who participate in this program will live in Washington, D.C., and attend school with other pages from across the country. The Senate Page Program is a wonderful way for these students to see firsthand what happens in the United States Senate while furthering their education and assisting in the legislative process. Senate pages have the opportunity to meet some of the nation’s most prominent leaders while participating in the day-to-day operations of the Senate.
Some of the daily tasks of a Senate page consist of attending classes, delivering correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex, preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.
The school year consists of two semesters. Senators may also appoint students for the Summer Page Program. This program typically consists of two four-week sessions.
Students are only eligible to be a page the summer before, the summer after, or during their junior year. They must be at least 16 years old, but not yet 18 years old, when the session starts. Students must be U.S. citizens and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Senate pages must be sponsored by a Senator, and there are only 30 positions available in the United States Senate. Because of the limited number of positions and the volume of interested students, the process is competitive and, unfortunately, not all students who seek a position can be accommodated.
If you are a Mississippian, meet the aforementioned qualifications, and are interested in being considered for Sen. Wicker’s nomination, please complete the following page application and email it to pageprogram@wicker.senate.gov. In addition to the application, page candidates will need to include their high school transcript. Submission of an application does not guarantee placement into the program. If you are notified of your selection to serve as a page, you will receive further information about the program and its requirements.
There are four page sessions each year. Please note the accompanying deadlines for applications.
